Happy trails

Once Anna showed signs of being able to sit up on her own, we knew it was time to break out the backpack carrier that we'd been eyeing all summer. And what good timing. September is typically a great month around here, so we've taken advantage of the good weather to hit the trails.

First trip was a day hike just off the Sea to Sky highway near Furry Creek. There were 11 of us, including babies Anna and Nathan, so it was a fun-filled adventure complete with bright sunshine, great company and al fresco dining for the two peanuts. Anna was an absolute dream - just nodding off in the pack when she was sleepy. The relaxed pace suited me fine, but I still could have used a ride in that thing...

We thought we'd celebrate Anna's 6-month milestone with a hike further afield. On a sunny September 15th we headed towards Manning Park to climb up Mt. Outram. Our plans to camp the night before didn't materialize, so Anna missed out on bagging her second peak. She didn't seem to mind too much. The scenery proved too captivating this time around for sleep to seem enticing, so a little falconry was required (aka Bambi blanket over the head) to help things along. Above the trees, our lunch spot offered a fantastic view and Anna kept cozy in her Peruvian sweater (thanks, Steph!)

Anna provided the entertainment on the way down, "singing" almost the entire way. Seems this girl was meant to be outdoors (that's how we are interpreting it, anyway). Luckily, she'll get plenty of chances to sing.
